Dr. Karacostas is a psychiatrist who provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for adults, adolescents and children.  He provides treatment utilizing psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, and psychopharmacology, in collaboration with other providers and schools. His areas of interest include ADHD, depression, anxiety, OCD, and bipolar disorder. 
 
Dr. Karacostas holds an M.D. from the Eastern Virginia Medical School and a Ph.D. in molecular genetics from the George Washington University. He completed a psychiatric residency at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine.  Dr. Karacostas is board certified in Psychiatry as well as Child & Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has had psychoanalytic training through the Topeka Institute for Psychoanalysis and the Cincinnati Psychoanalytic Institute. Prior to joining the Cincinnati Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, he had worked at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital (CCHMC), where he was affiliated with the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine as an Associate Clinical Professor. While there, for more than 8 years he provided psychiatric consultations to elementary and middle schools and directed the Psychiatric Consultation-Liaison service for patients hospitalized on medical units at CCHMC. He was involved in the CCHMC pediatric ADHD collaborative aimed at educating and empowering community pediatricians on the treatment of ADHD and co-morbid disorders. He has served as a psychotherapy supervisor for residents in the Adult, and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training programs.
